Dubai is one of the leading cities in the world when it comes to promoting fitness and wellness. Fitness challenges are being set up around the emirate in the hopes of encouraging people to move, engage in healthy physical activities and lead an active lifestyle. This is even more important during this pandemic when having a healthy mind and body is the key to increasing the likelihood of winning our collective fight against COVID-19.

Each year the Dubai Fitness Challenge (DFC), launched in 2017 by H.H. Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Dubai Crown Prince and Chairman of the Executive Council of Dubai, takes on the mission to help make the Dubai the world’s fittest and healthiest city.

From October 29 to November 27, 2021, DFC will hold exciting fitness and sporting events, group workout sessions and wellness-focused entertainment for people of all ages. These activities will not only make you fit, but they are also an ideal time to bond with your families and friends and form new friendships with like-minded people.

Dedicated fitness and sports zones are spread across Dubai and feature various fun activities. Here are some of our top picks:

  • Dubai Run: After the ‘wherever you can and whenever you can’ jogging experience in 2020, Dubai Run is returning to Sheikh Zayed Road this year, with 10km and 5km route options.
  • Dubai Ride: Presented by DP World, Dubai Ride on Sheikh Zayed Road and Downtown Dubai will feature a 14km loop and 4km family route on November 5th. Participants will have a chance to be part of this unforgettable experience and see some of the world’s most iconic buildings.
  • Al Marmoom Dune Run: Known for its flora and fauna, the Al Marmoom Conservation Reserve is the perfect place for your 5km dune run experience. Get fit whilst being surrounded by beautiful landscapes.
  • La Mer Open Water Swim: This action-packed event will thrill adventure lovers of all ages. If you are the type who is seeking to participate in 200m, 400m, 800m or 1600m (1 mile) circuits or a fun team relay, then this race is for you. 
  • Dekafit: This indoor decathlon features functional fitness and training programmes for athletes of all levels and abilities.
