The 28th of August marks the UAE’s annual Emirati Women’s Day, celebrating all female citizens for their strength, achievements and contributions to society. It is a special occasion that also highlights their empowerment, uniqueness and leadership.
Emirati Women’s Day was launched as an initiative in 2015 by H.H. Sheikha Fatima bint Mubarak, Chairwoman of the General Women’s Union (GWU), President of the Supreme Council for Motherhood and Childhood, and Supreme Chairwoman of the Family Development Foundation (FDF) and the “Mother of the UAE”. The date marks the anniversary of the establishment of the UAE’s General Women’s Union in 1975.
This year, the celebration focuses on the theme of, ‘Women: Ambitions & Inspiration for the Next 50 Years.’ More than anything, the theme reflects the immense role of Emirati women in advancing the country’s hopes in today’s age. It highlights ongoing preparations to help build a future that our wise leadership aspires for in the next five decades.
At Raayi, we are one with the nation in paying tribute to all Emirati women who continue to make us proud with their worthy achievements across disciplines and fields. Today, many of them hold leadership positions, thus enabling them to play an active part in decision-making processes and steering organisations towards significant growth and development.
From government ministers—such as HE Sheikha Lubna Al Qasimi, Minister of State for Tolerance—to business leaders—such as Reem Al Hashimi, Director General for Expo2020—to artists and athletes—such as Zahra Lari, figure skater—we are proud of the ground-breaking achievements of the women of this country. They serve as role models for all women in the UAE and the world.
At Raayi, we take inspiration from them, empowering our female employees and women in local communities across demographics. Through our platform, we provide a safe space in the digital world for them to share their ideas and voice their experiences.
Our commemoration is not bound to this single day, but remains a continuous celebration.
For Emirati women, cheers to you all!
